Our nation did the right thing 41 years ago

An eloquent statement about how we, the people, ALL of us deserve the right to VOTE without impediment.
Have you ever crossed the Edmund Pettis bridge in Selma? It is like going back in time. I (a white woman) was ill, and had chest pain. We stopped at a gas station in Selma. My husband asked an older black man where the nearest hospital was, and he said, we could not go to that hospital but he would lead us to another one. He got into his truck and took us to a local hospital where I was cared for immediately. We asked why he took us across town...but we knew the answer. Some things have not changed (this was in the 1990's) but the voting rights act of 1965 changed part of what is wrong. Let us remind our elected "represntatives" that we want to keep something that was done right...the Voting Rights Act of 1964. They MUST renew it.
